As a Marin county native, Woolf Barnato began training in Jiu Jitsu following in the footsteps of his older sister who is now a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Searching for some structure in his life, Woolf began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seriously at the age of 16 and was quickly recognized as a prodigy of the sport and progressed rapidly through the ranks. By 18 he was training full time and competing regularly becoming a world champion as a purple belt in 2013 under the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation and a Pan Am IBJJF blue belt gold medalist. He is someone who truly enjoys teaching and keeps his classes moving at a very fast pace while still keeping them highly technical. His teaching style emphasizes accurate technique and a clear, linear progression that builds on each previous class. Students constantly remark that their skills have improved vastly after just a few classes under Woolf’s instruction which has created a very dedicated following of this young phenom.
Native to Hawaii, Julian Marquez began training in Jiu Jitsu when he was 15 years old. After enrolling at the Gracie Longman Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Hawaii he quickly established himself as a talented practitioner and went on travel the world training, teaching and competing. He currently trains under Kurt Osiander at Ralph Gracie San Francisco where he earned his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Julian has also trained and instructed at East Coast Jiu Jitsu, Ireland and holds the following titles:

Julian has a passion for Jiu
Jitsu that shines through in his commitment to teaching. In his spare time
he teaches Jiu Jitsu to children through the Kids Program at the Ralph
Gracie Academy. Most of the children he teaches come from diverse and
challenging upbringings and he sees a parallel between his life and that of
the kids he mentors. “Jiu Jitsu saved my life” he said, recalling his
troubled teen years, “I work with kids from all backgrounds and I love that
Jiu Jitsu brings everyone to an equal level.” Beyond technique, Julian also
instructs students on the principles of Jiu Jitsu which include proper
nutrition, integrity, honor and responsibility.
Age 51, 6'1", 190lbs. Nico is one of the most highly trained martial artists in the world having begun training at age 10 and taking the Pan American Jiu Jitsu World Championship at age 49. He is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, a 7th dan Jiu Jitsu black belt (red belt from Osaka), a 7th degree Judo black belt, a 5th Dan Shorin Ryu Karate black belt, a Master Muay Thai Instructor, and a Shaolin Kung-Fu black sash. Nico lives and teaches in Marin County and is the founder and director of World Jiu Jitsu.
Serge Gerlach has a long history in martial arts with training in san shou, submission wrestling, BJJ, and Combat Sambo under Alexander Barakov. His 11 years of SAMBO (Russian Military Combatives and Sport Competitive versions) accomplishments include an "Instruc-tor's Rank" from New York Combat Sambo earned in 2008.
Most of his training was in Moscow with Igor Kurinnoy. He won the heavyweight bronze medal at the 1997 Gene LeBell World Grappler's Challenge in Toronto, Canada; a gold medal (2004) and silver medal (2006) at the United Gracie Tournament in San Francisco; a bronze medal at the 2005 Unity Classic Sambo Tournament; and a silver medal at the 2005 and 2007 North American Freestyle Sambo Championships. Serge teaches Combat Sambo classes at Kentfield MMA and throughout the San Francisco Bay area.
